Visoko izaslanstvo američkog Kongresa sastalo se u subotu u Kijevu s ukrajinskim predsjednikom Volodimirom Zelenskim i obećalo da će pokušati osigurati nastavak potpore u ratu protiv Rusije.

Delegaciju je predvodio kongresmen Adam Smith, predsjednik Odbora za vojna pitanja Zastupničkog doma. “Sjedinjene Države, zajedno sa saveznicima i partnerima diljem svijeta, stajale su uz Ukrajinu pružajući gospodarsku, vojnu i humanitarnu pomoć”, stoji u priopćenju izaslanstva.

“Nastavit ćemo tražiti načine da podržimo predsjednika Zelenskog i ukrajinski narod što je učinkovitije moguće dok nastavljaju pružati hrabar otpor”, dodaje se.

Američki ministar obrane Lloyd Austin rekao je u srijedu da će Washington poslati još četiri topnička raketna sustava visoke pokretljivosti (HIMARS) u Ukrajinu, što znači da će ukupno biti isporučeno 16 HIMARS-a.

Smith je također za Radio Slobodnu Europu kazao da su Washington i saveznici spremni dati ukrajini još raketnih sustava za višestruko lansiranje.
