Šezdesetak vatrogasaca bori se u utorak s vatrom na krovu luksuznog pariškog hotela Ritz na Trgu Vendome u središtu grada, kazali su dužnosnici.

Glasnogovornik pariških vatrogasaca kazao je da nema ozlijeđenih. Ritz se treba otvoriti ove godine, nakon više od tri godine obnove. “Glavni je cilj spriječiti širenje vatre,” rekao je glasnogovornik vatrogasne službe.

Omiljeno mjesto Coco Chanel i Marcela Proousta, te najdraža lokacija za ispijanje pića Ernesta Hemingwaya, Ritz Paris je zadnji put obnavljan početkom 1979. nakon što ga je kupio Mohamed al-Fayed.

Bilo je to i posljednje mjesto na kojem su zajedno boravili njegov sin Dodi al-Fayed i britanska princeza Diana. Ubrzo nakon što su napustili hotel u ljeto 1997. poginuli su u prometnoj nesreći u pariškom tunelu.
