Francuski predsjednik Emmanuel Macron izvijestio je u srijedu da su francuske vojne snage ubile islamskog militanta Adnana Abu Walida al-Sahrawija, vođu Islamske države u Velikoj Sahari.

“To je još jedan veliki uspjeh u našoj borbi protiv terorističkih skupina u Sahelu”, poručio je Macron tweetom.

Ciljali američke vojnike u napadu 2017.

Sahrawi je bio dugogodišnji vođa Islamske države u regiji Sahel u zapadnoj Africi i njegova je grupa ciljala američke vojnike u smrtonosnom napadu 2017. godine, priopćio je Macronov ured.

U kolovozu 2020. Sahrawi je osobno naredio ubojstvo šest francuskih dobrotvornih djelatnika i njihovog vozača iz Nigerije, dodaje se.
