My body shows proof of my strength 💪 My God given ability to be able to carry & protect a child within my body was not one that I was able to truly appreciate at such a young age. I used to hide my body because anything other than smooth, scar free skin wasn't attractive to many. They can't always be seen, but they are there. Now looking back 5 & a half years later, I've come to appreciate every mark on my body left as a memory of the life that I brought into this world. There are many women out there who wish they had tiger stripes and a tiny human to show proof of how they got there. To hate them is selfish & ungrateful. They tell my story of growth, development, & transition ❤️ #LoveYourLines 〰

The amazing A’Driane Nieves with her youngest son, Austin (6 months). She is also mother to Brennan (7) and Alex (4). A’Driane was previously in the Air Force, went back to school for counseling and Social Work and is now a proud stay at home mom. She was a single mom when Brennan was born and had just gotten out of the service. She struggled for a couple of years before getting on her feet. She has had healthy pregnancies and relatively uneventful deliveries. With Alex she had a lot of antenatal depression, anxiety and what she thought was nesting but was later determined to be OCD. She continued to struggle greatly with her moods postpartum. When Alex was about a year old she was up one night searching for answers and after googling postpartum depression she came across Postpartum Progress, read through the whole site and found it hugely helpful. Her contact with the site led her to get herself into treatment for PPD and realize she wasn’t alone. After about 6 months of her moods still cycling and feeling like treatment wasn’t really helping she went to the VA hospital for further help. She found someone who spent enough time to get to know her whole history she was diagnosed with Bipolar 2. A’Driane says that she felt relieve when she was diagnosed at finally finding answers and within an hour of adding a mood stabilizer to her antidepressant medication she felt her mind calm. She had a journey finding the proper combination of medication to keep her healthy. Her pregnancy with Austin was a bit of a surprise but she immediately contacted her doctors and found meds safe for pregnancy and breastfeeding. While she has still struggled with her mental health this round postpartum she feels she has control of it this time and is more aware of what she is going through. #4thtrimesterbodiesproject #fourthtrimesterbodiesproject #4thtrimester #fourthtrimester #postpartum #breastfeeding #childbirth #bodypositivity #stopcensoringmotherhood #motherhood #bodypositive #everybodyisbeautiful #4thtriaustin

Love your tiger stripes! It's a Friday night and for those of you that are going out and feeling self conscious about your stretch marks or cellulite, we just wanted to make sure that you know that most women have stretch marks and cellulite and that it's not something you should be ashamed of. Airbrushing in magazines may make you envious of "flawless" bodies but we promise you that they are not without imperfections. So wear your tiger stripes proudly and have a great time tonight 🐅 #feminism #feminist #feministfriday #equality #intersectional #loveyourlines #tigerstripes #stretchmarks #cellulite #selflove #bodylove #bodypositivity #bodyimage #effyourbeautystandards #airbrushing #media #insecurities #imperfections #loveyourbody #allbodiesaregoodbodies
