Kalifornijska porota u srijedu je naredila da tvrtka Johnson & Johnson mora platiti 29 milijuna dolara ženi koja je rekla da joj je azbest iz proizvoda te tvrtke na bazi pudera, uključujući Johnson’s Baby puder, uzrokovao mezoteliom.

Presuda, donesena na vrhovnom sudu u Oaklandu, zadnja je u nizu poraza te ogromne kompanije protiv koje je podignuto 13.000 tužbi širom svijeta. J&J je rekao da je razočaran presudom i da će se žaliti, citirajući “ozbiljne proceduralne pogreške” tijekom suđenja.

Kompanija niječe sve optužbe

The New Brumswick, tvrtka sa sjedištem u New Jerseyu, niječe da njezin puder izaziva rak te kaže da su brojne studije i testovi regulatornih agencija širom svijeta pokazale, da je njihov puder siguran i da u njemu nema azbesta.

Očekuje se da će 2019. pred sudove doći desetak tužbi vezanih uz azbest u puderu tvrtke J&J.
